IIRS Recruitment 2016, Apply for 6 JRF Positions. The Government of India has rolled out an employment notice regarding the vacancies available on Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) under Department of Space. According to this notification, IIRS is looking for young, talented and self-motivated persons for Junior Research Fellow post, on temporary basis.
Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) is a unit of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). It is a foremost institute involved in research on developing land-ocean-atmosphere applications and earth surfaces. Research programmes carried out by IIRS is linked to the major goal of ISRO (to improve the space-based services for national development).
IIRS Recruitment 2016:
Eligible candidates are selected to engage on research in remote sensing & geo-informatics related projects. The number of projects undertaken by IIRS is 6. Initially, the appointment is for a Contract period of 1 year and may be extended further as per organization needs.
Knowledge in Computer applications is must. M.Sc/ M.Tech with NET qualified or any equivalent exam in relevant subjects is essential. Interviewees will be provided with travel fare, only on producing tickets. The detailed eligibility criteria and applying procedure are given below.

Essential Qualifications for JRF Positions:
Individuals applying for JRF position in IIRS should have accomplished M.Sc/ M.Tech from recognized university. Also, the applying aspirants must have passed NET or any equivalent exam in relevant subjects.
Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Remote Sensing & GIS applications, etc. and Knowledge in data processing & computer programming skills, crop simulation models, LINUX operations, photogrammetry and image processing are the desirable qualifications for JRF position.
Preferable Experiences for JRF Posts:
For JRF post in IIRS, candidates having experience in LINUX/ UNIX based OS & Programming skills, Hydro-meteorological parameters in remote sensing, VIC, SWAT & other hydrological models, ability to predict numerical weather, flood early warning & modeling, advanced image processing tools will be given more preference.
Age Restrictions to Apply for JRF Vacancies:
The upper age limit for applying candidates should not be beyond 30 years. This age limit is calculated by IIRS as on the last date for receipt of applications. However, the SC / ST persons can apply up-to 35 years of age and OBCs are able to apply till 33 years.
IIRS Mode of Selection:
IIRS has decided to conduct Walk-in Interview for applying candidates. Only apt aspirants will get selected based on their qualifications and interview performance.
Individuals attending this interview must bring the original and self attested photocopies of all Educational, Experience, Age, Caste, ID proof, etc. These documents must be submitted to the Selection Committee on interview date, for verification.
JRF Fellowship in IIRS:
During the period of engagement, JRFs will be provided with a monthly fellowship of Rs.25000/-. Also, they will get CHSS Medical facility along with this basic pay. As per Government norms, the appointees are also eligible for H.R.A.
