Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute is initially proposed to be named as Central Glass and Research Institute is one of the four laboratories set up under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, DSIR, Minstry of Science and Technology. CSIR-CGCRI has gained scientific leadership in the area of advanced ceramic and specialty glasses which includes fiber and fiber based devices. The research activities of the institute were on specialized glasses and optical fibre, Sol- gel processing of glass and ceramics, nano structured glass and ceramics, etc. Projects based on this research are funded by Government agencies, Strategic Sectors and private industries.

Preferable Qualification and Experience:
Applicants should have completed BE/ B.Tech/ B.Sc Science/ Diploma courses with 55% marks in the relevant field. If you are applying for Technician post then should have passed 10th /ITI with 55% marks in the qualifying exams combined with a post qualification experience in appropriate field is necessary.
The upper age limit for Senior Technical Officer and Techncial Officer are 35 and 30 years respectively. For the remaining posts the age limit is 28 years. All these age limits will be reckoned as on 30th April 2016.
Besides this limit, relaxation in this age limit will be given as 3 years for OBC category and 5 years for SC/ST category candidates.
Mode of Selection:
The applications of candidates will be screened base on their eligibility then have to undergo a written exam and finally short-listed candidate will be called for interview.
The selected employees will be paid on the basis of pay band (PB-1) to (PB-3) which ranges from Rs.5200-20200/- to Rs.15600-39100/- per month. Other allowances which are applicable for central government employees will also added to the pay.
Fee and Other Charges:
Candidate willing to apply for these vacancies need to pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs.100/-. This fee should be remitted by means of Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Central Glass & Ceramic Research Institute” and payable at the State Bank of India, Jadavpur University Branch, Kolkata (Code No. 000093).
Applicants belonging to SC/ST, PWD, Women and CSIR Employee category are exempted from paying this fee.

Candidates can apply through the following website www.cgcri.res.in . This official website is linked with the online application form. Fill up the form with details which ever mandatory. Then upload the passport size photograph and submit the application.
After Final submission download the application Summary Sheet form generated and take a printout of it. Sign the Summary Sheet on the designated place and the the certificates and which are listed below.
