CDS Recruitment Exam Notification 2016 Online Application Form for 413 Defence Services Courses. A Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS Exam) is going to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for the admission of energetic and Passionate youngsters in the Defence service Courses of Indian Military, Navy, Air Force and Officer Training.

Educational Qualification for Defence Courses
Individuals who are desirous to join in this Defence Courses must be a graduate in engineering or any similar degree with 60% marks in aggregate from an authorized university or institution.
Age Confinement on CDS Openings
CDS Notification has limited the lower age of the candidates to 20 years and upper age limit to 24 years. The higher age limit is relaxed upto 26 years, if the applicant holds a valid commercial Pilot License issued by DGCA. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply, whereas applicant below 25 years of age should be unmarried.
Selection Process for CDS Jobs
In order to minimize the number of contenders appearing for the interview process, CDS will conduct a written examination. After verifying the online application forms suitable candidates will be intimated for written exam. The written exam will consist of objective type questions only.
Candidates who qualify in this exam shall be asked to appear for the interview. Based on the marks secured by the individuals in written exam and interview, a merit list will be prepared. Nevertheless, the candidates who meet the physical standards (Height & Weight) of CDS only will be selected finally.
The candidates selected by the Service Selection Board (SSB) will have to take part in the medical examination. Only the medically fit candidates will be accepted by the Commission, so it is better to undergo a medical test before applying for this course to avoid future disappointments.
CDS Examination Pattern
The CDS exam pattern for Military, naval and Air force consists of 3 sections like English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics for a total of 300 marks. There will be a penalty of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer.
For the Officer Training Academy, there will be two section i.e. English (100) and general Knowledge (100). Each Section will be conducted for 2 hours time and the question paper will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.
Pay Band for Defence Services
The physically fit candidates selected in CDS Recruitment shall be put under a training period for approximately 18 months. For this training course, the trainees will be asked to deposit certain amount for allowances and other charges. After the successful completion of training, the trainees shall be upgraded to higher ranks.
The pay scale of Army Officers will be as follows. The person Promoted as Lt to Major will get paid as per the pay scale of Rs.15600 to 39100/- per month with a grade between Rs.5400 to 6100/-, the Lt Col to Maj Gen will get salary as per the pay scale-3 i.e.Rs.37400 to 67000/- pm with grade pay between Rs.8000 to 10000/-.
The Lt Gen HAG Scale will receive a monthly pay of Rs.67000 to 79000/- pm and R.75500 to 80000/-pm for HAG + Scale. For the VCOAS or Army post, the appointees will get a fixed pay of Rs.80000/-pm and Rs.90000/-pm for the Cdr / Lt Gen (NFSG) COAS Positions.
The army Officers is admissible for usual allowances like Dearness Allowance, kit maintenance allowance, uniform allowance, transport allowance, child education allowance, etc as per the rules of DCS in force from time to time.
CDS Exam Fee Payment Mode
The Application fee of Rs.200/- shall be remitted either by depositing the money in any SBI Branch by cash or by using net banking/ Visa/ Master/ Credit/ Debit cards. Candidates belonging to the SC /ST and Female candidates are exempted from the fee payment.
Applicants who are making payment through offline mode should print the system generated Pay in-slip during the Part-II Registration and pay the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on any working days.
Steps to Fill CDS Online Application Form
Physically healthy and eligible candidates are required to submit their personal details through online only. The step for CDS Online Application Form is given elaborately below.
- Log on to the UPSC’s Web Portal i.e. www.upsconline.nic.in.
- Click on “Apply for Various examinations of UPSC”.
- There are two stages in registration; they are Part-I and Part-II registration.
- Click on the “Part-I Registration”, read the instruction carefully and click “Yes” Option.
- This will direct you to Part-I Registration page.
- Here you should fill the personal details like name, gender, community, contact details, Qualification, E-mail address, etc.
- Click on the “Submit” button, you will be provided with unique Registration ID and Password.
- Using that ID proceed with the “Part-II Registration”.
- You can make the fee payment in this stage and after the payment upload your soft copies of passport size photo and signature.
- Then choose your desired examination center.
- Finally click on the “I Agree button” to confirm your application.
- An application form will be generated, download it for future reference.
