UPSC CDS Recruitment 2017
Candidates who are about to finish their final semester/ year are also eligible for this UPSC CDS admission. Contestants who proved to be medically fit will be join in the training academies. On successful Completing of Training the candidates shall be promoted to higher ranks. Educational Qualification for Defence Courses
Individuals who are desirous to join in this Defence Courses under UPSC must be a graduate in engineering or any similar degree with 60% marks in aggregate from an authorized university or institution.
CDS has limited the lower age of candidates as 20 years and upper age to 24 years, to apply for Air Force Academy vacancy. To engage in IMA/ Indian Naval academy posts, unmarried male candidates must have age limits between 17 to 22 years.
The age limits set for Officer Training Academy vacancy is 17 to 23 years. Relaxations may be given for deserving personnel’s based on UPSC rules.
Selection Process for UPSC CDS Posts
In order to minimize the number of contenders appearing for interview process, UPSC will conduct a written examination. After verifying the online application forms only suitable candidates will be intimated for written exam. The written exam will consist of objective type questions only.
Candidates who qualify in this exam shall be asked to appear for the interview. Based on the marks secured by the individuals in written exam and interview, a merit list will be prepared. Nevertheless, candidates who meet the physical standards (Height & Weight) of CDS only will be selected finally.
Aspirants selected by the Service Selection Board (SSB) will have to take part in the medical examination. Only medically fit candidates will be accepted by the Commission, so it is better to undergo a medical test before applying for this course to avoid future disappointments.
UPSC CDS Examination Pattern
The written exam pattern for Military, Naval and Air force consists of 3 sections like English, General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics for a total of 300 marks. There will be a penalty of 0.33 marks for each wrong answer.
For the Officer Training Academy, there will be two sections i.e. English (100) and General Knowledge (100). Each Section will be conducted for 2 hours time and the question paper will be set bilingually in Hindi and English.
Pay Scales of UPSC Defence Services Posts
Physically fit candidates selected by the UPSC CDS shall be put under a training period for approximately 18 months. For this training course, the trainees will be asked to deposit certain amount for allowances and other charges. After successful completion of training, he/ she shall be upgraded to higher ranks.
The pay scale of Army Officers will be within a range of Rs.15600 – 90000/- (differs based on ranks). Officers are also admissible for Grade Pay and usual allowances like Dearness Allowance, uniform allowance, transport allowance, child education allowance, etc as per rules of DCS in force from time to time.
UPSC CDS Vacancy Fee Payment Mode
Application fee of Rs.200/- shall be remitted either by depositing the money in any SBI Branch by cash or by using net banking/ Visa/ Master/ Credit/ Debit card facilities, for UPSC CDS recruitment 2017. Individuals belonging to SC/ST and Female category are exempted from the fee payment.
Applicants who are making payment through offline mode should print the system generated Pay in-slip during Part-II Registration and pay the fee at counter of SBI Branch, on any working days.
Steps to Fill Online Application for UPSC CDS Recruitment 2017
Physically healthy and eligible candidates are required to submit their personal details through online only. The step for online application is given elaborately below.
- Log on to the UPSC’s Web Portal i.e. “upsc.gov.in”.
- Click on concerned UPSC CDS exam link.
- There are two stages in registration; they are Part-I and Part-II registration.
- Click on “Part-I Registration”, read the instruction carefully and click “Yes” Option.
- This will direct you to Part-I Registration page.
- Here you should fill the personal details like name, gender, community, contact details, Qualification, E-mail address, etc.
- Click on the “Submit” button, you will be provided with unique Registration ID and Password.
- Using that ID, proceed with the “Part-II Registration”.
- You can make the fee payment in this stage and after the payment upload your soft copies of passport size photo and signature.
- Then choose your desired examination center.
- Finally click on the “I Agree button” to confirm your application.
- An application form will be generated, download it for future reference.
